Utilizing New Technologies

HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY Sacramento is committed to offering you effective mind/body therapies. A very careful approach is taken that will increase self-reliance, life-style choices, and optimal functioning. Our emphasis is on self-management and restoration through education and practice provided by a multidisciplinary team.  While Medications at times are necessary and can assist in the re-balancing process, our clinic does not offer psychiatric services.  We will coordinate with our patient’s physicians and psychiatrists for optimal treatment outcomes.

  • Natural Medicines to ease symptoms and to naturally support neurotransmitter balance. Natural Medicines have shown to effectively balance adrenals and decrease inflammatory processes with little to no unwanted side effects. Many comparison studies are now available that support their use in specific conditions and in place of pharmacological agents.
  • Cranial ElectroTherapy Stimulation with Alpha Stim. Alpha Stim is a technology that has an FDA approval for depression anxiety and insomnia. It uses a low electrical current that is typically not felt to normalize brainwave activity and increase calming neurotransmitters. Alpha Stim is initially introduced in the office, thereafter; our patients can enter into a home program to use the equipment in the comfort of their home. Alpha Stim, in clinical trials has shown to be superior to antidepressant medications for both anxiety and depression.
  • Psychotherapy. Depression is a way of your mind and body to let you know that you are off balance. Talking through the knots in your life and finding meaningful ways to move forward can be the best antidepressant. Let’s not forget trauma: we know that trauma, even if it occurred long ago, can have compromising effects on our emotional and physical health.
  • Diet and Exercise. People eating a diet high in processed foods, refined carbohydrates, sugary deserts, fried foods and processed meats had a 58% higher risk of depression compared with those eating a healthy Mediterranean-type diet. Our patients receive dietary counseling and have the option to utilize our in-house yoga program; our clinic utilizes mindfulness practices in combination with yoga poses that stimulate mental balance and alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.
  • Hypnotherapy. Clinical hypnosis is used to assist our patients in dealing with pain, losing weight, sleep difficulties, and with embracing more healthful habits and practices.
