Chronic Pain

Although underused in medical practice, a psychological evaluation and behaviorally based treatment paradigms are often helpful in the management of chronic pain, especially in the setting of a multidisciplinary pain-management center. According to the 19th edition of Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, “the traditional medical approach of seeking an obscure organic pathology is usual unhelpful.”
