Help to Counteract Your Western Diet

Ayurvedic Herbs may aid fat metabolism.  Even though this study was done on small mammals (rats), it is still a good study because the effect size was so profound.  Here it is: 42 rats plus a control group were fed a high fat diet for 10 weeks then they received for 4 weeks Ayrvedic herbs.  The mice were evaluated at week 2, 4, 8, and 10 weeks post treatment.  The high fat diet group that also received the herbs had significant less body weight than the high fat diet group without the herbs (p<.0001).  Herbal treatments significantly lowered total cholesterol, LDL, and increased HDL.  Triphala (the herb measured) also reversed pathological changes in liver tissue and decreased the relative weight of fat pads.  Researchers stated: “The present findings suggest that triphala and its constituents can counter the effects of an environment (ie, high dietary intake of fats) and have the potential for use as antiobesity agents with desirable lipid-profile modulating properties.”

Folks, this does not mean that you can continue to eat in an unhealthy way, but it means that you can boost your weight loss efforts by using triphala.  If the pounds do not come off as you would like, it may not be the failure of the herb, it may be that your habits are quite powerful and that you may need a more structured program to assist you.
