Kelly Pemberton has over 18 years of experience working with children, teens, and families as an educational psychologist. Kelly combines her educational expertise in special needs populations with attachment based therapies, parent education, and mindfulness to support families facing a variety of challenging issues including adoption, autism spectrum disorder, mental health needs, and trauma experiences. Kelly also brings her mind-body training in yoga, somatic awareness, and cognitive behavioral approaches to her work with patients managing chronic pain, trauma experiences, and stress management. Kelly supports client treatment through individual, parent-child, family, and group therapy sessions.

Althea Cervantes Moynihan has provided yoga therapy for patients with chronic pain, anxiety and depression, for the past 5 years at HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY Sacramento. The unique blend of Althea’s nursing experience and her extensive yoga studies over the past 20 years become united in a truly healing practice of yoga therapy. Hatha Yoga sequences, in conjunction with breathwork, guided meditation and fundamental principles of conventional medical wisdom and assessment provide the basis for individual yoga therapy sessions. Althea’s work is an intricate part of the treatment team approach at HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY Sacramento and supports the therapeutic process by complementing existing therapies, and supporting the body’s intrinsic ability to heal itself.

Althea began her adult professional career as a Registered Nurse in 1980, and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Public Health in 1987. She worked as a pediatric intensive care nurse, and then branched out to work in the community and home health. She also worked as a nurse consultant and health educator overseas with non-profit organizations.

As a clinical supervisor, she helps develop and mentor MFT interns on their path toward licensure.

For the past 8 years Tamara Dowling has been a certified Yoga teacher and focused on refining her skills as a Yoga Therapist. She has studied with known yoga experts, and completed training in Restorative, Iyengar and Vinyasa Yoga. Tamara has completed Teacher Trainings through the Yoga Alliance and has practiced Yoga as a tool for healing. Tamara has found that mindfulness meditation and restorative yoga are effective in the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety and other mental health concerns.  She also practices the Feldenkrais Method, a somatic healing modality, which utilizes specific and effective movements to support treatment efforts for impulsivity, pain, ADHD, migraine, PMS and problems with menses, anxiety, disorganized thought and other imbalances.

Tamara specializes in developing yoga practices as coping tools for kids and teens living with depression, anxiety, autism spectrum problems, and mood disorders. She has brought her skills to Health Psychology Sacramento since 2013.

In addition to being a Massage Therapist, Emily has worked as a Director of Bodywork Programs at Mueller College for Holistic Studies in San Diego. She has also been a Massage Therapy Instructor, and Massage Clinic Supervisor. Emily has worked with a multitude of clients, students, and educators which enabled her to grow in her field and expand her expertise. Emily joined Health Psychology Sacramento in 2013 and enjoys working with clinic patients and the innovative team of professionals. In addition to doing massage she also works for the California Massage Therapy Council in the Professional Standards Division as a Hearing Officer.

Katherine McMahon

Katherine manages the front desk, she is Dr. Stehle’s assistant, the clinic’s claim’s department, and she manages clinician’s calendars and knows where everything is. Besides doing her best to keep things running smoothly at the clinic, Katherine enjoys playing music with her band, reading, travelling, spending time with her friends, and less frequently, running.

Katherine has been working at HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY Sacramento since 2007, and enjoys the variety and challenge that comes with the many hats she wears.

Larry Hickey is responsible for partner relations and business development. Prior to joining Health Psychology Sacramento he was the Assistant Director of Human Resources at the University of California, San Francisco. At UCSF Larry was the Benefits Manager, responsible for Workers’ Compensation and the Employee Assistance Program. He holds an MS degree in Counseling from SF State University. Larry is an experienced Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and he is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
